Exciting opportunity in a newly created role! AECOM is actively growing the NJ Transportation Planning practice and is seeking an experienced Permitting Specialist/Environmental Planner for environmental review projects within the Transportation Business Line. The successful candidate will assist in the preparation of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Executive Order No. 215 (EO 215) environmental documents, as well as Federal, State, and local environmental permit application development for major infrastructure projects within NJ. The successful applicant will join our team of existing AECOM Planning Specialists to assist in project delivery.
The role is based out of our Piscataway, NJ office on a hybrid office/remote schedule (3 days/week in the office, 2 days remote/week) with the opportunity to work in the New York City office.
Our Permitting Specialist / Environmental Planner is a newly created role to handle our growing business of environmental permitting and documentation for infrastructure projects in NJ. In this role, you will support the New Jersey Planning Department Manager for Impacts, Assessments & Permitting (IAP) while assisting with transportation projects.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Interprets and applies applicable government codes, ordinances and regulations.
- Conducts extensive research in specific or general project areas.
- Writes and formats formal and technical reports, working papers and correspondence.
- Conducts wetland delineations, existing condition assessments, and threatened and endangered species surveys.
- Preparation of regulatory permit applications for Federal, State, and County agencies.
- Review and interpret State and Federal regulations.
- Preparation of environmental documents such as NEPA and EO215 Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), Environmental Assessments (EAs), and Categorical Exclusion Documents (CEDs).
- Using GIS, specifically ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro, to generate graphics and make preliminary assessments of potential project impacts.
