Job Summary:
The Project Cost Controller to play a crucial role at Urban Grid by managing the cost aspects of utility scale solar projects. This role works with project managers, project developers, site managers and finance team to develop, monitor and manage project budgets.
Responsibilities:
- .Act as a resource for project delivery and development teams to provide cost controlling support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain cost control systems and procedures. Lead the implementation, enhancements, and upkeep of Project Cost Control tools.
- Create cost baseline by setting up project budgets based on approved capex during project initiation. Use the standard WBS to allocate costs appropriately.
- Ensure project commitments and expenses are allocated to the correct WBS.
- Run the Management of Change process in projects and ensure impacts of changes are reflected in current budgets, forecasts, and contingency drawdowns. Ensure proper documentation is in place for budget transfers and supplements.
- Work closely with the project managers & development team to ensure accurate forecasting of capex & devex spend is in place and is updated monthly.
- Work closely with the finance team to align on VOWD and monthly accruals.
- Prepare & issue monthly project cost reports.
- Participate in Operating plan development and set the OP baseline in system. Provide periodic portfolio reports to track cost aspects against operating plan.
- Ensure cost as-built data is accurately captured & allocated to appropriate cost codes. Work with the cost estimators to provide feedback and strengthen the cost estimation process.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Location: Based in Houston, TX with a hybrid/ remote work schedule. Occasional travel.
Requirements - Minimum of 5 years’ experience in cost management of construction projects. Experience in construction of solar projects will be an added advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools. Working knowledge of Procore, NetSuite, P6 and Power BI will be an advantage.
- Professional certifications in project management / cost management will be an advantage.
- Ability to collaborate with and manage a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong attention to details, analytical, problem solving, and project management skills.
- Ability to think and work independently, effectively, and efficiently.
