Title: Wiring Technician
Reporting To: Russ Van Zile, Production Manager
About the Job
As a Wiring Technician at Solar Stik, you'll be responsible for assembling and wiring our energy systems to meet precise quality and engineering standards. You’ll work closely with our production and engineering teams, interpreting schematics, connecting components, and inspecting finished assemblies for quality and functionality. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented and eager to apply electrical assembly skills within a supportive, continuous improvement-focused environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Schematic Interpretation: Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and specifications.
- Wire Preparation: Prepare wires for installation using pneumatic stripper and crimper.
- Component Assembly: Position, install, and connect electrical parts, wires, and components to facilitate assembly instructions according to Engineering and IPC standards.
- Process Adherence: Follow work instructions as they pertain to the production processes and suggest improvements.
- Documentation: Ensure accurate completion of related documentation, such as travelers.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect, test, and adjust completed units as needed to confirm they meet standards, specifications, tolerances, and customer requirements.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with Supervisors or Engineers to plan or review work activities and address any production issues.
- Training: Provide training and guidance to other technicians on techniques and procedures.
- Safety and Standards Compliance: Observe safety requirements and maintain high ethical/professional standards of performance, demeanor, and judgment.
- Travel may be required as assigned to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to support departmental and organizational goals.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent, vocational or technical school training preferred.
- Experience: 3+ years of related experience in production/assembly environments.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of hand-tools (e.g., measuring equipment, crimpers). Ability to read and follow electrical schematics and assembly instructions. Strong attention to detail.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Familiarity with IPC-620 Class 3 standards.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic knowledge of power systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise and temperature variations.
