Position Title: Equipment Engineer

Location: Jeffersonville, Indiana
The Equipment Engineer reports to the Senior Principal Equipment Engineer. The ideal candidate is responsible for managing the performance, maintenance, and optimization of manufacturing equipment used in the solar cells factory. This role involves ensuring that equipment operates efficiently, diagnosing and resolving technical issues, and implementing improvements to enhance production processes. The Equipment Engineer will work closely with production and maintenance teams to support manufacturing goals and ensure the reliable operation of equipment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze equipment performance to ensure optimal operation and achieve production targets.
- Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on manufacturing equipment to prevent unplanned downtime.
- Lead advanced troubleshooting and apply Root Cause Analysis to equipment failures, ensuring prompt tool recovery during machine hard downs.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules and standard operating procedures to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Manage and oversee equipment upgrades, modifications, and installations, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
- Ensure all equipment complies with safety, health, and environmental regulations, and promote a culture of safety within the team.
- Develop equipment control procedures with the process engineering team and drive maintenance using SPC and other methodologies.
- Oversee the costing and control of equipment spare and wear parts, continuously seeking cost-saving opportunities through innovative initiatives and market benchmarking.
- Ensure an adequate supply of spare parts. Efficiently manage Reorder Point (ROP) and Reorder Quantity (ROQ) based on the required number of spares and lead time to prevent equipment downtime due to parts unavailability.
- Provide training to technicians and implement best practices to ensure a safe and efficient working environment conducive to sustaining production.
- Required to adhere to designated working hours, including shift arrangements, as needed to meet operational requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, electronic, mechatronic or a related field.
- 1 to 2 years of working experience as an Equipment Engineer preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with team members, other departments, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Solar or Semiconductor process flow and manufacturing system.
- Knowledge of tools and methodologies such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design of Experiments (DOE), and Fishbone Analysis.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, develop innovative solutions, and make informed decisions under pressure.
- Willingness to travel, work off-shift, extended hours, and occasionally return to support tool recovery in this 24/7 factory environment.
- Hands-on experience and strong skills in equipment troubleshooting and engineering methods for equipment controls involving PLCs, PCs, and robotics will be advantageous.
