Job Summary:
The Group Credit Manager is responsible for overseeing the credit management and collection processes across multiple business units in North America. This role involves establishing, reviewing, and enforcing the company’s credit policies, evaluating the financial risk of customers, monitoring accounts receivable, and managing credit control teams to ensure that credit is provided to clients within the company’s risk tolerance while maximizing sales and profitability. This position reports to the Head of Global Credit.
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- Extensive experience (minimum of 8 years) in Finance and or commercial, with a proven track record of success and measurable results.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
- Master's degree preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of financial analysis, credit risk assessment, and credit scoring methodologies.
- Lead and manage a team of credit analysts, collectors, and credit managers, providing coaching, training, and performance feedback.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain credit policies and procedures for the group.
- Ensure all credit policies align with the company’s objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Assess the creditworthiness of potential and existing clients using financial analysis, credit scoring, and risk assessment tools.
- Establish and manage appropriate credit limits for clients and recommend credit decisions.
- Oversee the credit portfolio, ensuring an optimal balance between risk and profitability.
- Monitor key indicators such as payment performance, delinquency rates, and portfolio quality.
- Lead and oversee debt recovery efforts for delinquent accounts, coordinating with legal teams when necessary.
- Develop strategies for minimizing bad debts and managing problem accounts.
- Manage and lead a team of credit managers, analysts, and collectors, providing guidance, training, and professional development.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the credit management team.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders such as sales, finance, and operations teams to ensure credit-related decisions support overall business objectives.
- Communicate credit policies, risk assessments, and recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Prepare detailed reports on credit performance, credit risk exposure, and portfolio analysis for senior management.
- Utilize credit risk management systems and software to monitor and analyze data.
- Ensure internal controls and financial reporting requirements are met.
- Typically works in an office environment but may also travel to meet with clients, attend industry conferences, or site visits.
