Position Summary
The Vice President of Information Systems is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s technology strategy, systems, and cybersecurity. This role leads the development and execution of initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, protect digital assets, and drive innovation. The VP of Information Systems ensures that technology supports the organization’s goals and complies with all security and regulatory requirements.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the organization's strategic technology roadmap in alignment with business objectives and industry trends
- Lead the technology team in creating, implementing, and managing scalable, secure, and efficient systems
- Collaborate with executive leadership to identify opportunities for strategic technology-driven improvements across departments and organizationally
- Oversee a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy to safeguard the organization’s data, assets, and intellectual property, overseeing the policies, controls, and procedures to prevent, detect, and respond to cyber threats
- Oversee regular assessments of the organization's security posture, including vulnerability scans, penetration testing, and audits
- Stay current with industry best practices, emerging threats, and compliance regulations to ensure robust protection of information system
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Association’s internal IT infrastructure, including hardware, networks, databases, and software.
- Oversee the integration, strategy, and maintenance of the Association’s external and public-facing digital platforms, including web properties, mobile applications, payment platforms, and registration systems.
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity of critical systems
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effective and high-quality technology services
- Collaborate with legal to ensure alignment of data handling, retention, and security standards
- Drive initiatives to enhance data privacy and compliance, regularly reviewing and updating policies to adhere to evolving regulatory requirements.
- Develop and manage the technology budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources in line with organizational priorities
- Identify and implement cost-effective solutions while maintaining high standards of security and performance
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the technology department
Professional Experience, Education & Other Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
- Relevant certifications such as ITIL, PMP, AWS, Azure and/or CISSP
- 10+ years of experience in technology management roles, preferably in the nonprofit or trade association space, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position
- Demonstrated success in managing IT infrastructure, IT budgets, software development, and systems architecture
- Proven experience in cybersecurity, risk management, and IT governance
- Strong strategic vision, problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead through change
- Experience driving digital transformation initiatives, leveraging cloud technologies, and implementing data-driven decision-making
- Strong strategic thinking and the ability to translate business objectives into effective technology strategies
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing technology teams
- Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale technology projects, delivering results on time and within budget
Working Conditions
- This position is based out of headquarters in Washington, DC
- SEIA employees in the Washington, D.C. region follow a hybrid remote and in-person office model. Employees work 3 days a week in an office environment and as needed when there are special events or meetings but will otherwise be remote
- Some travel may be required for this role
Compensation Range
$185,000-$200,000 annually, based on experience and excellent benefits package.
