JOB SUMMARY: This position is a Fish and Wildlife Biologist, GS- 0401-11 working in Cortland, NY for the R5-New York Ecological Services Field Office. This is a term position expected to last 13 months but may be extended up to a total of 10 years at management's discretion. Note: This authority cannot be used to convert existing four-year term appointments to 10-year term appointments. MAJOR DUTIES: As a Fish and Wildlife Biologist your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Work with private landowners, agency representatives, and others to develop and implement habitat management plans. Identify and record vegetative types and wildlife usage relative to improving the habitat for migratory and resident priority species. Identify limiting factors of wildlife populations and develop plans and methods of improving priority species populations. Work with state and federal agency representatives to insure regulatory requirements for management activities are met.
