Job Summary:
We are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Officer to join our team. The EHS Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations to promote a safe and healthy work environment. This role requires excellent problem-solving skills, a solid understanding of regulatory requirements, and the ability to foster a safety-conscious culture within the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Verify site conditions and authorize work permits (Hot work, Height work, Confined Space Work, Lifting) – to coordinate between contractor and the Client to avoid delays.
- Carry out work site inspection and report deviations. – to communicate to site team, prepare reports
- Support E&M to prepare SOPs, SMPs and ensure SOPs are aligned and teams are trained in the SOPs.
- Prepare database of work permits issued and track closure on daily basis. Emphasis on housekeeping and the work locations are clear from obstructions, debris etc.
- Inspect portable tools brought by contractors for safe operation and approve for site entry.
- Ensure timely closure of audit findings and update to the Client team on the status of actions.
- Conduct daily tool box talks for contract workers and maintain records
- Conduct EHSS orientation for contract workers and maintain records
- Maintain training records of contractors and ensure trainings are conducted as per plan
- Identify unsafe act/conditions at site, report in system and take action for closure
- Inspection of scaffolds erected by contractors for working at height, Inspection of crane etc. (lifting tools and tackles – all forms as per local regulations)
- Monitoring work activities at site for safe execution / compliance to work procedures
- Inspection of E&M Team PPE and coordinate with contract management to ensure quality PPE are provided to team.
- Conduct Job Safety Analysis, HIRA of project activities along with engineers and provide training to workers.
- Conduct refresher safety trainings to contractor workers
- Monitor and provide EHSS support to weekend (Saturdays, extensions, holidays) work activities by various contract personnel. Issuing work permits to work activities and conduct toolbox talk.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in EHS management or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Certification in safety or environmental management (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) is highly preferred.
- Proven experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and accident investigations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and influence employees at all levels.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
