ABOUT THE POSITION:
Senior Software Engineer Test Automation will be driving development and testing of innovative solutions around grid-forming application controls for PCS in utility scale energy storage solutions. This role demands expertise in programming and test automation to create innovative solutions that contribute to the integration of renewable energy sources and grid stabilization. Key responsibilities are:
•Design and implement automated test cases to validate and compare various types of grid-forming control applications.
•Utilize programming languages like Python to interface with simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink or PSCAD as well as hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems
•Collaborate closely in a multidisciplinary environment comprising PCS controls developers, plant controls developers, product managers and grid integration experts to clarify requirements for utility scale battery energy storage systems.
•Execute test cases in a software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environment.
•Design and implement post-processing functionalities to facilitate test data analysis and comparison.
•Comprehensively document test cases and test results.

•The ideal candidates will have a minimum of an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Power Electronics, Control Systems, or a related field and 2-8 years of work experience in software test automation.
•Proficiency in programming languages like Python, or similar
•Solid background in software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing methodologies, ensuring robust control system validation.
•Experience with HIL simulators like OPAL-RT or Typhoon HIL.
•Experience with simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink or PSCAD.
•Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot intricate control system and test automation challenges.
•Understanding of power systems, power electronics components and their roles in utility-scale energy storage systems is a plus.
•Effective communication abilities, enabling seamless collaboration within cross-functional teams.
•Knowledge of related utility grid interconnection standards and regional grid codes is a plus.
•Familiarity with grid-forming operating modes and applications is a plus.
•Knowledge of or history working with major component OEMs in the solar or battery storage industry is a plus.
•Excellent English verbal and writing skills.
•Willing and able to travel, domestically and internationally, approximately 10% of the time.
