The Environmental Engineer will report to the Engineering Department Leadership Staff.

Job Overview
The environmental Engineer will work closely with senior engineers and project managers in support of the company’s ongoing landfill gas and biogas utilization projects. The Engineer will be responsible for implementing sound engineering principles to ensure project designs are at the industry’s cutting edge. An ability to work independently, self-motivate, and communicate effectively with team members is of the utmost important to this role. ESI values both continuous improvement and the opinion of its employees, consequently the Engineer will be expected to provide feedback to Department Leadership on ways that processes, and designs can be optimized.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Prepare engineering drawings for permitting, estimating, and construction by ESI’s clients and subcontractors.
• Perform and review calculations, including but not limited to pump sizing, pressure drop, pipe stress, relief valve and pipe/header sizing, valve and insulation selection, steam, and condensate equipment sizing.
• Support the review and response to Contractor RFIs.
• Interact with other engineering disciplines and departments throughout the company.
• Develop working knowledge of piping and vessel industry standards and codes.
• Develop working and continuous knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding landfills and anaerobic digestion projects.
• Prepare specifications and technical reports.
• Work with regulatory bodies (State, federal, and local) to prepare and submit annual reports including:
Greenhouse gas reporting, carbon offset projects, and carbon credit verification.
• Prepare feedstock analysis reports and gas projection modeling for anaerobic digestion and landfill projects.
• Provide technical support in feasibility studies and other business development projects.
• Seek ways to improve and promote quality, demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness in all work.
• Ability and willingness to travel.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Civil/Environmental Engineering, or similar, from an accredited university.
• E.I.T. Certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license for state of residence.
• Proficiency in 2D computer aided drafting preferred.
• Experience in landfill and anaerobic digestor operations, permitting or environmental monitoring a plus;
knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations a plus.
• Competency in, or willingness to learn Autodesk programs, including but not limited to AutoCAD, Inventor, Plant 3D, and MEP.
• Technologically savvy and proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to deal with complex problems and present recommendations and findings in a clear, concise format; ability to effectively interact at all levels within and outside of ESI.
• Quick learner who adapts well to a fast-moving environment and gets things done, combines creativity, problem-solving skills, and a can-do attitude to overcome any obstacle.
• Highly motivated and willing to take on multiple responsibilities at once; Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in an environment with changing priorities.
