JOB SUMMARY: This Position located in Natural Resources Stewardship and Science, in the Natural Resources Stewardship and Science Division. The Incumbent performs a range of professional duties supporting investigations and scientific projects and programs. This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of 10 years. Term positions do not convey permanent status in the Federal service. MAJOR DUTIES: The major duties of the Geologist position include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides program management support to obtain, synthesize, and present geologic and geologic hazards data and information about National Park Service areas in Geographic Information System, written, and oral formats to multiple NPS and public audiences. Develops, maintains, and queries databases, other tracking systems, and geologic hazards monitoring systems to organize and present geologic and geologic hazards data and information and ensure discoverability by other audiences. Utilizes exceptional oral and written communication skills to disseminate geologic data and geologic hazards information to internal program and external NPS and public audiences via informal or formal methods (e.g., summaries, reports, briefs, websites, SOPs, presentations, PowerPoint slides, in-person or video conferences).
