The Environmental Protection Program (EPP) partners and collaborates with all Argonne employees to accomplish Argonne's mission while protecting human health and the environment. EPP conducts work in the following areas:
Environmental media (air, water, soil, sediment) sampling
Project and Facility permitting with the U.S. EPA and Illinois EPA
Analysis of Federal and Illinois State environmental regulations
Inspection of work areas and areas of environmental interest
Data entry, analysis, and trending
Assessment of work and management practices
Environmental radiation protection and ALARA review
Interns will assist staff in implementing the EPP in one or more of the above areas with appropriate guidance, oversight, and training.
Education and Experience Requirements
This opportunity is open to any undergraduate student with relevant experience who meets the following criteria:
Must be currently enrolled full-time at an accredited institution and have completed at least one year of schooling by the start of the program.
Seeking a degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related STEM major. Master students are eligible to apply.
Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
Must be a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident at the time of application.
Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
If accepting an offer, must pass a screening drug test.
