The Environmental Crew Leader is responsible for providing training and skill development, record keeping, inventory of cleaning supplies and on the job support and guidance to consumers to prepare them for competitive employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but may not be limited to the following:
- Reports to work on time as scheduled and at the location assigned.
- Completes all required training within the Agency-established timeframe.
- Completes all other duties as assigned.
- Provides skill training and direction to clients as they participate on the work crews.
- Ability to drive with a good driving record is required.
- Responsible for transporting crew members to the work site.
- Demonstrates the skills necessary to teach all job related tasks to crew members.
- Creates a supportive environment conducive to consumer learning.
- Provides feedback to the placement manager.
- Participates in weekly program meetings as necessary.
- Demonstrates awareness of consumer needs and a basic understanding of mental illness.
- Completes all documentation in a timely fashion and meets requirements regarding time sheets, inventory list, supply orders, and job estimates as required by Agency policy.
- Maintain adequate inventory of crew supplies.
- Prepares an accurate cost estimate prior to commencing work on a new job.
- When appropriate completes other assigned responsibilities in a reasonable established timeframe, with quality expectations.

Environmental Crew Leader (ECL) demonstrates strong communication skills with the crew and other members through professionalism, dignity, respect, welcoming communication and non-judgmental listening. ECL effectively supports and communicates during crew training to ensure understanding of tasks.

- Possession of a valid Michigan Drivers License required, Chauffeurs License preferred, with a good driving record.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED.
- Experience in working with consumers with mental illness preferred.
