How will you make an impact?
The Program Manager – Environmental Sustainability & Energy will support the continued development and execution of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Net-Zero strategy. This position requires a combination of planning, project management, partner engagement, and data analysis skills to ensure the successful integration of sustainability principles and into our business practices. The successful candidate will collaborate with partners to identify net-zero initiatives that efficiently reduce Thermo Fisher’s carbon footprint and improve operational performance. We are seeking a team-oriented individual who is passionate about Project Management, and excited to drive significant environmental and operational improvement.
What will you do?
Support an organizational net-zero program emphasizing fuels emissions efficiencies, operational decarbonization and renewable energy source expansion
Develop forward-looking site net-zero roadmaps to optimize energy use, identify decarbonization constraints, and leverage asset end-of-life for sustainable growth paths
Advance Thermo Fisher’s Net-Zero Building strategy through the incorporation of green building design, systems and materials into new construction and renovation projects
Support Thermo Fisher’s renewable energy program including green energy procurement, physical power purchase agreements (PPAs), virtual agreements (VPPAs) and on-site generation
Communicate program progress, partner concerns, and issue analysis; provide clear and concise reporting of all activities, metrics, and achievements to the organization
Assess project performance and ensure benefits are consistent with program requirements, including the development and implementation of measurement and verification plans
Stay abreast of innovations within the sustainability and energy management fields; advise, mentor, and support internal customers to keep them apprised of key technological and regulatory developments
Develop project case studies to detail standard processes, lessons learned, risk mitigation, and continual improvement opportunities
How will you get here?
Education
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, sustainability, environmental science, or a related field required
Preference towards professional registration and/or certifications such as ISO 1400
Experience
7 years work experience with 3 to 5 in project management/sustainability
Experience implementing energy efficiency, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical projects
Shown sustainability expertise; broad understanding of emerging commercial, regulatory, and value chain issues/trends
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Multi-functional partnership skills; ability to influence leaders, employees, and external partners to meet goals
Tried business insight and experience leading all project aspects, including presenting with collaborators and directing matrixed teams and resources
Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work optimally at all levels of an organization
