Job Summary:
Quality Engineers are innovators who use data, knowledge of processes and product, and input from team member’s performing work to identify and implement effective solutions while educating, coaching, and training team members to develop a stronger Quality culture. Quality Engineers in addition to supporting routine Quality department functions implement improvements within various departments which positively impact the Quality or Compliance of products and processes.
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- 4 or more years of experience in manufacturing quality engineering
- ISO 9001 Auditing Certification
- Proactive trained problem solving using a variety of structured problem-solving methodologies

Job Responsibilities:
- Shop Floor Problem Solving: Works on the shop floor alongside operators infusing quality thinking and local problem solving for cultural transition.
- Leads and supports various manufacturing projects to equipment and processes to improve product, equipment, environment, and/or TM’s daily tasks
- Identifies Internal Issues: Uses various methods (data review, visual detection, reported complaints/concerns internally) to identify issues in the product and process. Coordinates long or short-term resolution as needed utilizing TMs involved in the work.
- Leads Improvement: Listens to operator feedback on issues that need resolved. Gets it done through site resources.
- Trains / Coaches Shop Floor Personnel: Supports learning organization initiative through teaching / coaching on the shop floor. Imparts technical knowledge of the process and reactionary logic based on process deviation observation.
- Technical Process Expert: Always pursues a deeper knowledge of applicable subject matters in area of coverage (extrusion, paint, fab., etc.) to drive innovative solutions.
- Supports Customer Claim Resolution: Supports internal investigation of customer complaints and assists with containment as requested.
- Conducts Shop Floor Trials: Coordinates internal product / process trials.
- Supports Product Dispositioning: Works with TMs to ensure suspect material is dispositioned appropriately per internal requirements while discussing the logic behind decisions to TMs. Provides direction.
- Engages in Benchmarking: Works with counterparts across the organization to benchmark and standardize best practices.
- Compliance & Ethical Behavior: Demonstrated high standard for excellence and core belief in quality compliance, accuracy in reporting and ethical behavior within a manufacturing environment (laboratories, in particular). Must be capable of coaching and training direct reports on subjects of compliance and ethic.
