The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic team, where the focus is on delivering exceptional planning guidance to environmental teams within the business. As Associate Director you will play a crucial role in expanding the Environmental Planning Service into a dual-functioning consultancy, supporting their wide ranging client base and driving ambitious, sustainable growth.
Joining my client as an Associate Director and be part of their mission to achieve beyond net zero carbon impact. The role offers flexibility with the possibility of working remotely or from one of the many offices across the UK, with a preference for Leeds / London or Manchester.
As an Associate Director, you will lead the Environmental Planning team, ensuring operational excellence, providing expert advice, and representing the company at various professional events.
Responsibilities & Tasks
- Supporting the daily operations of the Environmental Planning team, including budget management, team welfare, and reporting to senior leadership to ensure adequate support for the team.
- Offering expert advice to clients and fellow professionals on how our services align with planning frameworks, while identifying project risks and strengths in the early stages.
- Providing sound planning guidance to technical teams (e.g., Noise, Air Quality, Ground, Flood, and Ecology) based on expertise.
- Assisting colleagues across all levels with project management tasks, such as developing schedules, budgets, and progress trackers.
- Producing, reviewing, or authorizing various feasibility assessments and environmental reports for planning purposes.
- Leading projects through all phases of the planning application process, particularly for large-scale and EIA developments.
- Representing the company at networking events, panel discussions, client meetings, and other external engagements.
Ideally You Will Have The Following
- Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI)
- Extensive experience in planning-related practice, including consultancy and client-side roles
- Passion for the environment and sustainable development projects
- In-depth understanding of the UK Planning system, regularly updated through training and CPD
- Proficiency in UK EIA regulations and guidance
- Versatility in handling various development types and sizes
- Ability to simplify technical data and communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and the public
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Proficiency in various software products including GIS, Microsoft Word/Excel, and Outlook
- Reliable, pragmatic, and adept at working independently and in teams
- Driven to advance career growth and share knowledge internally and externally
- Skillful in building and nurturing client relationships
