TE Connectivity is a global technology and manufacturing Leader creating a safer, sustainable, productive, and connected future. For more than 75 years, our connectivity and sensor solutions, proven in the harshest environments, have enabled advancements in transportation, industrial applications, medical technology, energy, data communications, and the home. With 90,000 employees, including more than 8,000 engineers, working alongside customers in approximately 140 countries, TE ensures that EVERY CONNECTION COUNTS.
In this role, you will join the Scope 3 team and report to the Sustainability Lead as a Sustainability Specialist. This newly established position within our corporate function will be crucial in shaping strategies, collaborating with internal teams, and working with suppliers to help TE meet its Science-Based Target (SBT) of achieving a 30% reduction in emissions by 2032. You will play a key role in leading initiatives focused on reducing Scope 3 emissions associated with procured products, collaborating across functions such as operations, sustainability, procurement, and engineering.
What your background should look like:
Responsibilities
• Lead the Scope 3 Procured Products Reduction Program: Analyze procurement data and collaborate with commodity leaders to identify opportunities for reducing emissions across various commodities (e.g., cables, fabricated plastic items). Develop both short- and long-term reduction roadmaps and targets. Work with internal stakeholders to define processes and standards, improve data accuracy, and support suppliers in their decarbonization efforts.
• Develop a Reduction Roadmap: Partner with engineering and procurement teams to create annual reduction plans and targets through 2032. Align the program with the raw materials reduction roadmap, monitor progress on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, and address challenges as they arise. Provide leadership with progress updates through a comprehensive scorecard.
• Internal Collaboration: Work closely with commodity leaders to understand industry-specific challenges related to sustainability and develop solutions. Form working groups to address high-emission commodities and hold regular meetings to track progress and share updates. Develop processes, standards, and training programs to streamline the program's implementation.
• Supplier Engagement: Collaborate with procurement to engage suppliers, survey their progress, attend supplier meetings, assist with technical document reviews, and develop resources and training to accelerate suppliers’ decarbonization efforts.
• Improve Data Accuracy and Completeness: Conduct regular checks to ensure Scope 3 emissions data is calculated accurately. Work with procurement teams to obtain primary data and improve the accuracy of emissions calculations.
• Additional Responsibilities: Support other ad hoc projects as necessary to advance TE's Scope 3 goals and overall sustainability initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
• A University degree in Sustainability, Procurement, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• 3-5 years of combined experience managing Scope 3/sustainability initiatives, supplier engagement, or supply chain operations. Experience in an international, matrixed organization is preferred.
• Proven ability to develop and implement long-term strategies, with experience tracking progress using metrics and KPIs.
• Leadership Competencies: Thrive in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment. The role demands the ability to navigate ambiguity, manage fast-paced conditions, think critically, and drive operational excellence.
• Experience with GHG accounting and product carbon footprint analysis.
• Strong collaboration skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization and distill complex information into actionable insights.
• Detail-oriented, well-organized, with strong analytical skills to identify opportunities, simplify problems, and identify root causes.
• A strong team player with a positive, proactive, and professional attitude.
• Highly self-motivated individual with a strong bias for action and impact.
