We are seeking an Associate (1-year contract) to support GenZero’s Institutional Strategy & Carbon Business team under the Strategy and Development Group. The individual will collaborate closely with other teams on various cross-functional projects and support our engagements with the Temasek ecosystem as well as GenZero’s portfolio companies.
This role offers the unique opportunity to join a fast-growing and dynamic organisation in an exciting and newly created role based in Singapore.
Role and Responsibilities
- Implement and support the refinement of GenZero’s ESG and climate impact policies and processes.
- Research to develop GenZero’s internal policies and practical approaches to key strategic initiatives, delving into sustainability-related areas (e.g. carbon market engagement , just transition, decarbonisation targets and claims, etc.).
- Perform ESG due diligence on GenZero’s portfolio companies to support the Investment Group’s risk analysis and management.
- Support the engagement, data collection and analysis of GenZero’s portfolio companies’ ESG and impact performance, including our organisation and portfolio carbon footprint (Scope 1-3 emissions).
- Support internal project management of GenZero’s sustainability report through drafting, implementation of leading reporting frameworks, data management and external audit.
- Support engagement with potential partners in the carbon markets to advance carbon sales opportunities and expand GenZero’s role in the carbon markets
- Engage in and support international thought leadership activities on sustainability-related measurements, reporting and data.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, international development, business, finance, sustainability, environmental science or related disciplines.
- 2-4 years of work experience with at least 2 years of experience in sustainable finance/impact investing, consulting or audit roles; experience in carbon markets will be an advantage.
- Experience engaging directly with companies, investors, consultants and sustainability standard bodies, including coordinating stakeholder management on sustainability-related projects and/or reports.
- Technical understanding of key sustainability standards (e.g. TCFD, TNFD, UN SDGs, etc.), impact measurement methodologies, corporate GHG measurement and decarbonisation target setting.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to thrive in a start-up and fast-paced environment.
