As a Design and Cost Engineer, your primary role will be to provide technical support to our sales team. You will assist in project costings, perform detailed site inspections, and ensure that our cleints renewable energy solutions are tailored to meet their client needs effectively. While you will not be responsible for direct sales, your contributions will be crucial in closing deals and ensuring client satisfaction.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Project Costing: Meet with clients to understand their needs, conduct site inspections, and develop accurate cost estimates for projects. Collaborate with the sales team to prepare detailed quotations and recommend cost-effective solutions.
• Site Inspections: Conduct thorough site visits to evaluate feasibility, assess site conditions, and address potential challenges. Ensure that solutions are tailored to the client’s specific needs.
• Technical Support: Provide technical expertise during proposals and negotiations, assist in preparing technical documentation, and address technical queries from clients and the sales team.
• Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and technical staff to align project design with sales objectives. Support the development of technical resources and participate in industry training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Job requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechatronics, Electrical, Electrical, Renewable Energy, or a related field) or equivalent technical experience.
Must be fluent in Afrikaans
Proven experience in technical roles within the renewable energy sector, including project costings and site assessments.
Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, including solar, wind, and energy storage systems.
Proficiency in using design and costing software (e.g., Excel, PVsyst, Helioscope, Xero) and familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various project sites as required.

Advantageous requirements:

Experience with project management or coordination within the renewable energy sector.
Knowledge of local regulations and standards related to renewable energy installations.
In-depth knowledge of solar and battery storage equipment.
