Position Specific Description
NextEra Analytics is currently seeking a well-qualified candidate to join our Asset Performance team as an Operations Engineer. The Operations Engineer will focus on the analysis and reporting of plant production data from across our renewable fleet. Specifically, this role involves applying advanced scientific methods and tools to analyze the power performance of our wind, solar, and storage facilities.
The successful candidate will achieve results by effectively applying analytical methodologies, understanding results and their impact on the business, developing recommendations based on analytics, and articulating results to other business units. This position frequently provides reports to management through risk vetting and operational committees and often collaborates with other business units to provide advanced analytics.
- Conduct assessments of operating wind, solar, and energy storage generating assets.
- Create production profiles used for financial analysis and budgeting via our operational assessment process.
- Perform diagnostic reviews of plant performance and collaborate with other business units on root cause analysis.
- Assist in the development of techniques or processes to mitigate production variances or predictions.
- Assist in month-end performance reporting and collection of input data from other business units.
- Assist in longer-lived product enhancement through code and feature testing.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics, Atmospheric Science, Energy, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a combination of the following areas: wind/solar energy, battery storage, or a related utility field.
- Proficient to above-average abilities with statistical analysis packages (R, Python, Matlab, etc.)
- Ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization, both written and oral.
- Ability to meet office attendance requirements and storm duty assignments.
- Ability to infrequently work extended hours when necessary to meet critical deadlines.
Job Overview
Employees in this role oversee the analysis and reporting of renewable plant operations. Individuals provide renewable plant operational assessments for the entire fleet including applying advanced scientific methodologies to production data. This position applies analytical solutions and effectively articulates results to other business units and to executive management through risk vetting and operational committees.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides assessments of operating renewable generation plants
- Creates production profiles used for financial analysis and budget setting
- Performs turbine diagnostic reviews and collaborates on root cause analysis
- Oversees and develops techniques or process to mitigate production variances or predictions
- Performs month-end performance reporting and collection of input data from other business units
- Oversees all aspects of renewable operations deliverables and process including Operational assessments, budget support, GenE, power curve fitting, and renewable energy index
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
