JOB SUMMARY: This position is a Conservation Program Specialist, GS- 0301-13 working for the R9-Div of Natural Resc and Conservation Planning. This is NOT a remote position, please see additional Information section for more information. MAJOR DUTIES: As a Conservation Program Specialist your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Develops draft and final policy, regulations, and legislation that better provide management tools and guidance to program staff, resulting in more effective and efficient conservation delivery. This includes Federal Register documents and any other supporting material needed to support development of policy, regulations and other public notifications. Coordinate development and approvals of policy and regulatory packages for the program, providing technical expertise and process management with minimal supervision. Lead national teams and committees composed of regional office and field staff to obtain input into implementation of regulations, policies, and planning. These teams meet weekly and development of agendas, meeting notes, and teeing up issues for group discussions are imperative. Consult with the Department of Interior Solicitor's Office and Department of Justice on lawsuits and legal matters affecting Refuge System policies and regulations.
