JOB SUMMARY: This position is a Realty Specialist, GS-1170-13 within the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The Service works with others to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. This is not a remote position. Individual must report to a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service office (location negotiable). Salary will be based upon duty station and locality pay once selected. Locality tables may be found at: Federal Pay Tables 2024 MAJOR DUTIES: This Realty Specialist position is within the Division of Realty, which reports the the Chief, National Wildlife Refuge System, in U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) headquarters. The Refuge System conserves and manages more than 96 million terrestrial acres across the country which provide public opportunities for wildlife-dependent recreation including hunting, fishing, and wildlife viewing. As a Realty Specialist your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Responds to requests for assistance, information, or service from Regional Realty and other Service offices, the Department of the Interior, the Office of Management and Budget, congressional staff, other federal and state agencies, nongovernmental organizations, and private individuals. Perform research and provide guidance, clarification, technical assistance, and problem solving, either by oral consultation or preparing memoranda. Review and analyze new laws and regulations relating to real property, summarizes impacts on realty-related activities for Washington and Regional offices, and recommends solutions to specific problems. Reviews legislation and prepares legislative reports and comments. Manage and query real property inventory databases to respond to requests for information on Service-managed lands. Manage Land and Water Conservation Fund accounts to expand public opportunities for wildlife-dependent recreation. Prepare correspondence and briefing materials, and prepare and deliver oral presentations. Coordinate development of realty-related training for Regional and Headquarters staff.
