JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to supervise the performance of clerical and technical work that is associated with the collections, deposit, tracking and expenditure of fee revenue and donations collected. MAJOR DUTIES: Provide assistance to the fee supervisor and/or higher-level fee manager in the development of new fee systems and procedures for implementation above the local level. Perform assignments in accordance with all NPS and U.S. Treasury regulations governing the handling of government funds. Serve as a technical authority for the resolution of especially difficult or sensitive problems associated with the collection, remittance, and deposit of fee revenue and donations. Conduct analysis to validate fee transactions and determine the adequacy of existing fee systems and technologies; make recommendations for operational adjustments. Provide informal and formal training to employees, partners, volunteers, interns, cooperating association representatives, etc. regarding highly technical automated and non-automated fee processes, systems, software programs, tools, etc. Physical Demands: This position may require standing for long period of time, as well as walking, bending, lifting of moderately heavy items. Mental stress and physical fatigue occur during the high volume of personal contacts and the responsibility of dealing with large amounts of money. If applicable, extreme physical exertion maybe required while performing search and rescue, wildland firefighting, and other emergency response duties. Work Environment: This position typically works at an entrance station, campground office, fee office, remit office, visitor center, and/or visitor contact station. Work may be frequently performed in small, outdoor structures with open windows which results in exposure to extremes of temperature, rain, snow, wind, and direct sunlight. Park areas may be geographically located in areas of high elevation, rugged terrain, or dense populations. High levels of vehicle noise and emissions may exist during heavy visitation periods. Duties may be performed alone and/or in isolated locations.
