We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental Health & Safety Manager to ensure our facilities adhere to all regulatory and permit conditions across various domains, including but not limited to Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial & Hazardous Waste, Underground Injection Control, and Storm Water Management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for establishing compliance procedures, conducting audits, and training employees, while maintaining a strong relationship with regulatory agencies.
JOB DUTIES
Regulatory Compliance Management:
- Maintain facility compliance with all relevant regulations and permit conditions.
- Establish, implement, and maintain regulatory compliance procedures and record-keeping practices.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual compliance reports as required.
Auditing and Inspection:
- Conduct audits of facility plans and procedures to ensure compliance with permit conditions and regulations.
- Coordinate and perform Safety and Environmental inspections on a regular schedule.
Collaboration and Training:
- Collaborate with various departments to prepare and submit permit amendments and renewals.
- Train new and existing employees on environmental and safety procedures, coordinating training efforts for maximum efficiency.
Regulatory Representation:
- Act as the primary liaison with regulatory personnel during compliance evaluations and audits (EPA, OSHA, TCEQ, etc.)..Monitor regulatory agency postings for updates or changes that may affect plant operations and compliance requirements.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Management: Assign and manage the distribution of PPE and safety precautions during shipment unloading and other operations to ensure employee safety.
Waste Management:
- Perform waste characterizations for site-generated wastes and review profiles for off-site generated wastes to ensure compliance.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Review, maintain, and update facility documents as part of the site’s operating record.
- Approve and maintain files and data for insurance, transporters, and contractors.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in technical fields such as Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in environmental health and safety, preferably within a chemical processing or hazardous waste management facility.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable environmental regulations and safety standards.
- Must have experience working with of RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct thorough audits and inspections.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and training.
- Proficient in documentation and record management.
- Preferred Skills: Familiarity with compliance evaluation procedures and documentation standards.
- Experience with safety training and employee development.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
