Job Description
OceanaGold has a new role for an experienced Sustainability Advisor to join our dynamic team in Brisbane. This is a key role for our Sustainability team and will support the coordination in developing, implementing, and monitoring company sustainability projects and activities to deliver on organisational sustainability strategy, governance, assurance, reporting and disclosure requirements.
Working closely with the Sustainability Manager, this role will provide support to the Sustainability Centre Function Leads in ensuring OceanaGold’s alignment with internal and external environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals, and advising on existing and emerging sustainability and ESG regulatory requirements. Therefore, this role will best suit a motivated and collaborative operator, with a genuine interest in sustainability and a sound knowledge in sustainability-related principles, standards, and frameworks. You will:
- Support the delivery of the Company’s annual corporate sustainability and ESG disclosures including delivery of the Company’s annual Sustainability Reporting Suite, S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment, Carbon Disclosure Project, UN Global Compact Communications on Progress, Responsible Gold Mining Principles, Conflict Free Gold Mining Standards disclosures.
- Prepare materials and coordinate sustainability content reviews and approvals with the relevant SME’s for internal and external reporting of the Company’s sustainability information, including responses to ESG benchmark surveys and investor queries.
- Build, maintain, analyse, and communicate accurate sustainability registers, performance dashboards and reporting systems to support internal decision making and reporting.
- Lead and maintain the Company’s Sustainability External Commitments and Actions register, including conducting quarterly progress checks and updates to the register with the accountable action owners.
- Lead the planning and execution of sustainability projects, initiatives, and activities, such as ESG and peer benchmarking, investor benchmarking and sustainability risks and opportunities mapping.
- Collaborate with the Sustainability Manager to identify, collect, analyse, and report on sustainability data, metrics, risks and targets to track the Company’s performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Support the Sustainability Centre Function Leads in various elements of the design, execution, and measurement of the Company’s sustainability strategy and other programs of work such as biodiversity, human rights, modern slavery and health and wellbeing.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate qualifications in sustainability, sustainable development, environment, social sciences or other relevant discipline, or related field.
- Proven experience in sustainability, environmental management, or corporate social responsibility with knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, CSRD, ASRS, CSA, CDP) and environmental certifications (e.g., ISO 14001).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Excellent project management abilities, including planning, organising, and prioritising tasks.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
