About the role
Maersk Energy Markets acts as the sourcing arm for Maersk in terms of supply, storage, purchase and delivery of fuel and energy. The department handled approximately 11m metric tons of fuel purchases during 2023 including green fuels such as biofuel and methanol. With fuel being one of Maersk´s main operating costs, Energy Markets focuses on optimizing it along various channels, including blending, tolling and barging. We are a mixture of talented, passionate professionals, traders and industry experts part of a larger organization all working to reach Maersk´s net-zero target by 2040.
You will lead the newly created Sustainability Operations team, focusing on all regulatory requirements to protect and support the ISCC chain of custody. The team will keep a global view of sustainability operations requirements, guiding teams in other regions whilst coordinating cross-functionally to ensure the end-to-end sustainability process remains robust. You will be supporting the annual ISCC audits by defending the end-to-end mass balance operation that you will lead for Europe.
As a ISCC subject matter experts, you will be working closely with stakeholders across the business including Trading, Origination, Legal, Compliance, Finance and Market Analytics. Further to this, you will represent Operations on the ISCC Management Review Committee. Utilizing your knowledge, you will partner closely with Trading to actively explore ways to optimize for better commercial outcomes. With green fuel regulations constantly changing, you will work closely with Market Analytics to stay informed and adjust our global ways of working where necessary. The role will continue to expand from current biofuel and methanol operations to also include new green fuels that become viable.
You will lead training efforts globally ensuring all necessary stakeholder in Operations are equipped to work with green fuels regardless of locations.

Key responsibilities
Your main focus will be to lead the Sustainability Operations team. You will guide the day-to-day activities required for a smooth and continuous mass balance operation in Europe. You will work closely with the Head of Europe Operations as a peer to ensure the overall operational setup runs efficiently.
Key tasks;
Act as the global subject matter expert of ISCC operations, firmly supporting audits, owning mass balance operations in Europe whilst guiding teams globally.
Co-ordinate with physical operations on all logistical movements containing green fuels. This includes supporting on physical trials of new sustainable products.
Develop commercial focus within the Sustainability Operations, liaising specifically with the trading department as key stakeholders.
Lead projects to optimize green fuel subsidies & penalties ensuring we remain cost competitive in all locations.
Ensure month-end processes are maintained whilst maintaining adequate information flow to Trading and Product Control to manage pricing and exposure.
Oversee various testing process to ensure necessary reports are available for verification such as Carbon-14.
Co-ordinate quarterly closure of ISCC mass balance whilst managing Incoming/outgoing POSs and DDCs.
Support IT in integrating the overall mass balance operation into our new CTRM solution.
Liaise closely with all internal and external stakeholders to drive current activities and anticipate future operational, commercial and sustainability needs.
Support orchestrating the necessary logistical set ups for green fuels such as biofuel and methanol.
Work closely with Global Head of Operations Process to ensure the end-to-end Sustainability Operations process is realistic and executable.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers and suppliers, providing excellent mutual support and help resolving any issues that may arise.
What are we looking for
Tertiary Qualification in commerce, administration or shipping & logistics.
Good to have more than 5 years of professional experience in a related role within the Oil & Gas operations, bunker barge operations, shipping and servicing customers in a BtB environment.
Direct experience working within an ISCC framework covering green fuels with an expert understanding of ISCC audits and mass balance operations.
A team player with the ability to easily work cross-functionally as part of a virtual team where everyone pulls in the same direction.
An energetic, pro-active, commercially minded leader who is familiar with operating in a fast-paced environment and enjoys solving complex technical challenges.
Fluency in both written and spoken English.
