Discover more about phosphate at Nutrien! This is an open posting for an Environmental Science Student interested in co-op positions at our Aurora, North Carolina Phosphate facility.
- This is a temporary, full-time, hourly paid position open to current students who will be returning to their studies once this work term is complete. This position is not available for remote work.
- Work will be both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Outside the office, standard work wear will consist of hard hats, safety boots, safety glasses and ear plugs, with other items as needed; these items will be provided
- Location: Aurora, North Carolina
- Term (6 months): Dates can be adjusted/extended to coincide with school terms.
- Spring 2025 - January 6 - July 25
- Fall 2025 - June 2 to December 19
What you will do:
- Support air, water, and waste compliance processes including inspections and identification of environmental hazards
- Record keeping and filing organization to support compliance documentation in alignment with internal policies
- Contribute to data collection, analysis, and validation for internal and external reporting processes
- Assist in development of standard operating procedures to support the plant environmental management processes
- Coordinate an effort to automate environmental field data collection
What you will bring:
- Must be currently enrolled and have completed at least 1 year of an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science/Engineering or equivalent related program at an accredited post-secondary institution AND returning to full-time studies after the work term.
- Demonstrate positive safety behavior and leadership
- Willingness to learn and gain knowledge and experience through training
- Strong interpersonal teamwork and communication skills
- <span 72="">Motivation to set and achieve goals, take initiative, and nurture project forward
- <span 72="">Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
- Must be able to work outdoors, and around potentially hazardous chemicals
- Must be able to hear and understand audible alarms, changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communications
- Must be familiar with Microsoft’s Office Suite
