Our partner in the environmental consulting industry is looking to add an Environmental Staff Scientist to their team to help support field activities and reporting for their team.
Location:Hybrid, Lisle, IL
Schedule: M-F, 8am-5pm with some outside hours required
Salary:$55,000-$65,000
Job-Type: Full-Time, Permanent
The Environmental Staff Scientist will primarily support field activities for subsurface investigations, environmental site assessments, remediation, and contractor oversight.The successful candidate should possess knowledge of environmental due diligence and soil and groundwater investigation and be a confident consultant unafraid to execute. Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct field work, including soil, sediment, ground water, and surface water sampling. Oversee drilling, soil logging, soil boring and monitor well installation, development, purging, and sampling.
- Coordinate and oversee drilling and laboratory services.
- Maintain detailed field documentation, including notes, soil boring logs, monitoring well logs, photographs, and GPS data.
- Assist in data interpretation and preparation of site work-plans and spreadsheets.
- Write technical reports.
- Conduct interviews with site occupants to assist in evaluating environmental site conditions.
- Coordinate team project delivery, taking direction primarily from Project Managers.
- Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
- Adhere to site-specific Sampling and Analysis Plans (SAPs) and Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or similar field
- 2+ years relevant staff scientist experience
- OSHA HAZWOPER training preferred
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to be organized, self-motivated, dependable, personable, and able to multitask and work effectively as a team player
- Strong technical writing skills.
