Overview
Through our Priceless Planet Coalition (PPC), we are collaborating with individuals, businesses and corporate partners to help address climate change by funding the restoration of 100 million trees. Since launching the PPC in 2020, we have engaged more than 150 corporate partners globally to support forest restoration projects that seek to mitigate global GHG emissions, promote biodiversity and benefit the communities that live in or near reforested landscapes.
The Priceless Planet Coalition employs a forest restoration model dedicated to regrowing forests in locations that represent a heightened global need. We partner with Conservation International and World Resources Institute, who lead the Priceless Planet Coalition’s mobilization and coordination of restoration efforts, collaborating with local communities and stakeholders for long-term forest stewardship and employing science-based best practices for the selection, implementation and long-term monitoring of restoration efforts.
There is increasingly strong sentiment in society to take action against the impacts of climate change, and we must leverage our technology to make it simple and convenient for individuals to do so. Through existing and emerging products, we can educate consumers about the carbon footprint of their purchases to make mindful spending choices. Our capabilities enable fast and secure methods for donations towards our reforestation programs. We deepen the trust our contributors have in the Coalition via tracking and reporting online tools that show the progress of reforestation, from planting to maturity, and estimate the sequestered CO2.
PPC is a core part of Mastercard’s overarching responsibility for environmental stewardship, whereby we manage our environmental footprint and create environmentally conscious solutions.
