ERM is seeking an experienced Environmental Approvals Consulting Director (Impact Assessment) based in our Perth office, to lead technical teams preparing environmental impact assessments for complex projects for renewable energy, mining, infrastructure and industrial sector clients. As a Planning and Approvals Consulting Director, you will contribute your leadership, client relationship, and technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERM’s business and client base within the sectors, while networking with ERM's global Impact Assessment technical team to share multi-disciplinary resources and best practices across the industry.

Role Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage environmental assessment (EA) and environmental impact statement (EIS) projects and related approvals management in support of ERM clients’ project requirements, including SSD / SSI
- Lead the growth and development of ERM’s planning and environmental approvals business in WA. Work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment to build ERM’s business, as well as to lead client and technical teams.
- Develop new client relationships and expand existing relationships by delivering strategic consulting advice, excellent value and quality service.
- Technical review of approval documents, for submission to the regulator.
- Prepare technical proposals, including development of technical scopes and cost estimates, and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads. Maintain client relationships to support repeat business.
- Mentor junior and mid-level consulting staff to develop their skill sets in the environmental planning and approvals technical area. Identify emerging talent and work with them to reach their full potential, ensure rising starts are nurtured, developed and given new areas of responsibilities.
- Provide thought leadership, positioning ERM as the leading environmental and sustainability consulting business in the sector.
- Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees.
- Project manage projects within client’s scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
If you have the following, we want to hear from you:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications;
- 20+ years of environmental planning and impact assessment working within WA and Commonwealth legislative requirements.
- High degree of technical competence in environmental planning and approvals, due diligence, landuse planning, post approval management and broad knowledge of impact assessment best practices, with a solid grasp of the key impact assessment and management issues within the renewables, infrastructure and industrial sectors.
- Resume with WA approvals related projects
- Track record in preparing SSD approval documentation for renewable projects is an advantage.
- Project management and project delivery skills, including time management and organisational skills
- Well-developed team building and influencing skills; unquestioned integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address client and business needs and challenges
- Solid experience building sustaining relationships with major clients.
- In depth understanding of Project Approvals challenges including existing relationships that can be leveraged into new business.
- Be eligible for Registered Environmental Assessment Professional certification.
- Business acumen to understand business risk and challenges, and recognize corporate opportunities.
- Excellent writing, communication, presentation, strategic thinking, and people skills.
- Authorisation to work in Australia
