The Associate Director of E&E leads the strategy development, planning and deployment for their segment of accountability, in close partnership and coordination with Segment Supply Chain leadership. This includes analyzing, collating and prioritizing the key risks, opportunities and compliance requirements, and leading focused activation of initiatives to create value in the areas of environment and energy, specifically within mill operations and logistics. This includes developing the necessary plans and capabilities to achieve corporate and segment goals/objectives, prioritizing areas with highest impact and driving execution with site environmental/energy leaders and program subject matter expertise within the Sustainability organization. Specifically, this will involve deploying systems, processes and initiatives to promote environmental protection and improvement through pollution prevention/waste minimization; water stewardship; energy efficiency/GHG reduction and supporting K-C’s efforts to create added value for the company’s customers, consumers, and other key stakeholders. They also have direct responsibility for initiatives that deliver continuous improvement and are accountable for delivering change management and transformational efforts to deliver or exceed the organizational sustainability goals and ambitions.
Role Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Manage the relationship with Segment SC VPs and Mill leaders to establish and align on annual and SBP period energy, climate, water, waste and environmental compliance KPI’s.
- Through “Shared Planning”, the incumbent will partner with global leaders to ensure that KPIs roll-up to deliver Enterprise targets which accelerates both sustainability targets and business value
- Ability to influence Segment and Mill leadership by quantifying the value of E&E projects and deliverables to each mill, country and segment.
- Participate in audits report-outs in the Segment demonstrating an ability to provide feedback, mentoring and drive necessary action plans to insure action for Critical and Major findings.
- Lead cross-functional teams to adopt current best practices from other segments that deliver sustainability and business opportunity
- Manage the E&E project pipeline in Sphera to support the delivery of the Sector KPI’s
- Provide input and advise on external sustainability communications, including commercial sustainability claims and feedback from customers and consumers. Ensure accurate Sustainability/ESG reporting and engage with external stakeholders to inform on relevant sustainability topics.
- Provide requisite guidance and assistance to Segment Supply Chain leaders accountable for complying with existing/evolving government policies, laws, regulations and other applicable E&S obligations including conformance with K-C Performance Standards. Actively partner with the Sustainability Risk & Compliance team to identify requirements and to develop necessary compliance processes/controls.
- Improve Environmental Maturity through activation of tiered accountability/management systems and leader standard work.
- Routinely report on progress vs. prioritized work plans, engagement E&S and Segment leadership accordingly.
- Ensure closure of major environmental deficiencies/non-conformities, ensuring strong root cause assessment and corrective/preventative actions are deployed in response.
- Ensure strong environmental crisis management/business continuity plans are in place, and support environmental crisis management as necessary
- Foster relationships with external partners and groups as needed (e.g., governmental agencies, NGOs, industry groups, scientific organizations, legal organizations) and other functional experts to stay abreast of relevant E&E policy and regulatory developments

Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, policy or related field specific to the role.
- At least 12 years experience working in related roles with environment, regulatory and sustainability responsibilities for a global, multi-site consumer goods or packaged goods organization, preferably in heavy manufacturing.
- At least 3 years of experience providing strategic direction and managing environmental teams
- Extensive knowledge of applicable, pending and evolving legal requirements in relevant jurisdictions (international/regional, national, local) pertaining to environment protection and sustainability.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex legal or internal requirements to all levels, providing guidance to leaders in Supply Chain and collaborating on these topics with other relevant business functions (e.g., Risk Management, Legal, Research & Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Government Relations and Compliance & Ethics).
- Previous experience with a multinational operations
- Strong digital capabilities (e.g., data management, analytics, workflow management).
- Strong familiarity/experience with deployment of ISO and/or LEAN management systems, including ISO 14001
