We are looking for an experienced sustainability manager to support our Mace construction project in Ballycoolin Dublin working 5 days per week on site. The successful candidate will join the existing responsible business team and deliver onsite environment and social value services, for Maces’ construction division. The role will also support Mace’s wider corporate ambitions to reduce client carbon emissions by 10 million tonnes by 2026 and deliver €1.3bn of value to society by 2030.

You’ll be responsible for:

Leading the development of the client carbon and sustainability strategy on the project, including agreeing project outcomes and ensuring their delivery by the project team.

Translating technical topics into laypersons language and articulate the value of sustainability.

Supporting the drive for Mace to be a leader in climate change and sustainability.

Delivering purpose-led and measurable outcomes on the project

Ensuring all targets (legal, client and Mace) are being delivered
-
Ensuring the project contributes to the 2026 Mace business plan KPIs and targets.

Awareness of client and market needs to evolve and maintain necessary competencies.
-
Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with client and stakeholders including design team members, contractors, subcontractors and regulators.
-
Representing Mace at relevant forums and through presentations to clients and working groups.
-
Regular engagement with your client and consultants (share knowledge, check in, provide informative insights, project updates and case studies).
-
Managing data quality (i.e. QA the data sets) and identifying insights that you can act upon.

Driving improvements and better outcomes (not just reporting).

Measuring and tracking innovation, deliver meaningful and measurable outcomes.

Do the basics right – legal compliance, legislation, Mace way.

Bid support to the BU leads in construct. Exceed the clients’ expectations but ensure it is deliverable.

Identification of local needs.
-
Writing of social value plans to deliver the local authority, local and client needs.
-
Provide regular updates to local communities through newsletters and community meetings.
-
Respond to complaints and enquires received from the local community.
-
Project managing the delivery of targets as agreed in employment & skills plan, working with stakeholders and supply chain to ensure a collaborative approach

Manage the monthly monitoring and reporting requirements for your project and submit to the relevant council and client where necessary.

Attend client meetings and project review meetings to report outputs, issues and risks around socio-economic targets

Establish and maintain positive working relationships with client and stakeholders including colleges, council, training providers, employment charities and job centres.

Implement employment strategies with our sub-contractors and local authorities.

Screen, manage and refer apprenticeship and job start candidates to our sub-contractors
-
Identify and produce case studies to assist with communicating best practice
-
Delivery of community investment activities and programmes for the project.

Engage with schools / colleges for site visits, work experience in line with Mace’s strategic objectives

Writing and analysis of social value statements.
You’ll need to have:

Qualifications\: Relevant Tertiary Qualification (Post Graduate Degree, Etc) (or equivalent).
- Experience within a sustainability role or a related field. Ideally 4 years plus.
You’ll also have:

Experience in developing, and/or implementing environmental management systems on projects.
