Position Summary:
As the leader and champion for all environmental aspects at Warn, the Environmental Engineer is dedicated to implementing and monitoring and enhancing processes’, procedural, mechanical, cultural, to world-class level. Performs a variety of engineering work to design, install, operate, and maintain measuring apparatus necessary to determine the level of pollutants involving air, land, and water. Ascertains levels of pollution and recommends appropriate action to mitigate or manage ensuring conformances with federal, state, and municipal legislations and regulations regarding environmental control. Assists in the overall planning, installation, and modification of equipment as it relates to the environment. Serves as liaison between the organization, our parent company and associated regulatory agencies.

Essential Functions:
- Lead, plan, implement and coordinate environmental programs, including those requiring application of engineering principles and technology; prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions; reduce risk, control costs, as well as analyze and ensure compliance throughout all business functions.
- Responsible for tracking applicable laws and regulations, identifying those related to the organization’s activities, products, and services, and evaluating the potential impacts of these laws and regulations on the organization.
- Compile, analyze and interpret statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and/or environmental standards and requirements.
- Advise WARN leadership concerning environmental objectives, and with input, determine and implement corrective action.
- Represent the company at regulatory hearings, legal action, legislative, and community meetings.
- Generate and submit necessary environmental compliance and reporting; examples include new / renewing applicable permits and licenses, monthly industrial wastewater discharge reports, local POTW, annual TRI Form R, Fire Marshall hazardous waste survey, and toxic release inventory reports.
- Partner with others internally, and externally (Oregon Energy Trust for example) on incentive programs to recommend/validate equipment upgrades and modifications related to pollution abatement and environmental management and then monitor to ensure delivery of productivity and program benefits.
- Prepare and present semi-annual environmental report at the Management Review Meeting and recommend actions to improve. Supporting activity to create, update and maintain program documentation includes Compliance Checklists, Environmental Work Instructions and Forms, Aspects and Impacts of Warn’s Activities, Products and Services along with selection of the Significant Aspects and the choice of Targets and Objectives and Programs to address these Aspects.
- Foster an environment of collaboration and information sharing between departments and serve on cross-functional teams to facilitate ongoing ISO 14001 certification, audits, and supporting procedures and work instructions in accordance with OSHA, DEQ, DOT State and Federal regulations and ISO requirements.
- Perform regular site inspections for environmental compliance, identify root causes of issues or violations and develop and implement mitigation plans.
- Lead and/or participate in environmental corrective actions, reporting, training, and continuous improvements.
- Organize and conduct audits and hazard evaluation and control, and perform analysis of equipment, processes, facilities, and communication in support of risk reduction and ensuring compliance.
- Develop environmental policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA, DEQ, DOT State and Federal regulations and ISO EHS requirements, including ISO 14001
- Partner with Sales, Safety, Production, Engineering, Quality, and others to meet customer environmental requirements.
- Manage on-site recycling, waste treatment and disposal programs and maintain SDS files, ensure proper labeling of all hazardous materials, storage / disposal of hazardous wastes, manifests hazardous wastes prior to shipment, prepare hazardous waste reports as required, and maintain records on all related activities.
- Work with the Training department to create, provide, document and evaluate effective staff training for regulatory needs of Spill Prevention Control and Containment Plan (SPCC); air quality, and hazard communication.
Availability Requirements:
- Due to the nature and scope of the essential functions, the importance of personal interactions with coworkers, equipment and the environment, regular and consistent onsite availability is required.
- Occasional weekend work, and possible travel to sister companies may be required, although unlikely.
Required Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Four years related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

- Strong technical, troubleshooting, problem solving, research, organizational and analytical skills combined with the ability to prioritize tasks to establish and meet deadlines. Ability to address multiple tasks while remaining flexible with changing priorities and deadlines with multiple complex assignments, projects, and issues.
- Ability to lead, problem solve, and facilitate activities necessary to complete projects and achieve and maintain compliance. Demonstrated follow-through is a must.
- Well-reasoned decision-making skills with a high attention to detail regarding organization, planning, workflow, and project prioritization. Focus on completing tasks efficiently, accurately, and as quickly as reasonably possible.
- Ability to read and interpret environmental standards, regulations, and requirements, determine suitability to Warn’s business / environment and identify programs to ensure continued compliance.
- Mathematical skills equivalent to those required under education and/or experience.
- Must be enthusiastic about guiding others through education and information sharing.
- Proficiency with MS Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Language Skills:
The successful candidate will exhibit the ability to read, write, verbalize, and comprehend instructions and correspondence in the English language. In addition, they will exhibit strong oral and written communication skills commensurate with the job tasks and position. Their ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external customers while providing exceptional quality of work and outstanding customer service is essential. This person must also consistently demonstrate the ability to present complex information in a manner designed to educate, inform, and influence other team members and customers in one-on-one or group interactions to achieve results in a cooperative manner, including upper management.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:
This position requires working in a shop, office, warehouse, and outdoor environments. Job duties require experience and comfort working in an active shop environment, as well as throughout the factory. Employee duties include exposure to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, chemicals, and/or vapors.
