Davis & Floyd is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental/Civil Engineer to join our team! This position can be based in our Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, or Greenwood, SC office. We are a multi-disciplined firm that has been providing quality engineering services to our clients since 1954. This candidate will become part of a team that provides environmental engineering services to a wide variety of clients. Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and work on environmental projects for public, industrial, and commercial facilities
- Check and prepare site plans, designs, reports, and drawings
- Review data collected through field studies, surveys, and laboratory data
- Assist senior level engineers with project design, project specifications, and inspections
- Correspond with clients and regulatory agencies by phone, in writing and in person to communicate and establish expectations
- Take responsibility for project profitability, schedule, and quality
- Effectively communicate with internal and external clients
- Conduct construction site visits to monitor progress and other contracted construction services
- Oversee the work of staff engineers and technical subordinates
- Coordinate and manage daily activities/scheduling of various assigned projects
- Develop construction cost estimates
- Apply sound engineering principals to the solution of routine technical problems
- Review and prepare design computations and quantity estimates
- Assist design team with ensuring budgets, schedules and project specifications are met
- Assist in preparation of presentation material for client meetings and public review sessions
- Provide necessary coordination and follow-up on the work to ensure quality standards and client satisfaction are met
- Assist senior engineers by executing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Any of the following would be a plus: solid waste management, industrial wastewater, air permitting, brownfield, site remediation
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years design and permitting experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) required, or the ability to obtain such within 6 months
- Knowledge of environmental compliance requirements and development and implementation of programs
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local agency regulations
- Knowledge of engineering and surveying practices
- Experience managing multiple projects and working with clients
- Ability to manage and clearly communicate with staff and clients
- Experience in Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D, SEDCAD or SSA is a plus
- Project Management Skills including interaction with local and state environmental agencies, direct communication with clients, and develop internal and external marketing strategies to assist in department growth
- Valid drivers' license and acceptable driving record
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
