Job Description:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with an American multinational corporation that designs, manufactures, and distributes engines, filtration, and power generation products to hire a Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Analyst. This role is responsible for performing routine functions related to the site's environmental permit and safety requirements, as well as supporting the Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System (HSEMS). Core duties include data gathering on emissions and discharges, incident and accident reporting, site inspections, wastewater sampling, waste area maintenance, container labeling, and other tasks assigned by the site HSE Supervisor or Manager. This role contributes to minimizing environmental impact and safety risks by assisting with the application of engineering and administrative controls and supports the collection of HSE KPIs for reporting at site, business unit, and corporate levels.
Responsibilities:
- Support implementation and maintenance of the HSEMS, including significant aspect and risk control, and achievement of HSE objectives and targets.
- Aid in regulatory compliance efforts for programs such as stormwater management, employee training, recordkeeping, and reporting.
- Monitor pollution prevention, waste management, air quality, and water quality programs.
- Assist with internal and external HSE audits, resolve basic audit findings, and update HSEMS documentation.
Qualifications / Competencies:
- Risk Assessment: Identifies workplace hazards, analyzes risks, and selects control measures to reduce risks as low as reasonably practicable.
- HSE Management Systems: Applies international standards to establish and maintain effective management systems and external certifications.
- Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis: Conducts quality investigations on HSE incidents with accurate root cause analysis for effective corrective actions.
- Health & Safety Fundamentals: Promotes a proactive safety culture, aiming to build an injury-free workplace.
- Performance Measurement & Evaluation: Collects and analyzes data, establishing KPIs to track trends and achieve improvement goals.
- Injury and Illness Management: Manages workplace injury and illness cases, ensuring compliance with regulations and facilitating treatment and case management for employees.
- Regulatory Compliance Management: Implements controls and monitors performance to meet health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Communication: Effectively conveys information tailored to various audiences.
- Planning & Alignment: Organizes and prioritizes tasks aligned with organizational goals.
- Data Mining: Uses data exploration and visualization techniques to uncover insights and support decision-making.
Education / Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, or a related technical or scientific field. Candidates without a degree may be considered with significant relevant experience. A High School Diploma / GED is required at a minimum.
- We are seeking candidates with 5 to 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Candidates must have machine guarding experience, LOTO (lockout/tagout) electrical safety experience, and risk assessment experience.
- A CMSP certification is preferred (although not required).
- Experience with STF (Slip, Trip & Fall), hoist and crane, confined space, and ergonomics are all desirable.
- Other skills and qualifications that are helpful are computer skills, database skills, advanced experience working with spreadsheets (Excel), and hands-on experience with HSE systems.
Additional Duties:
- Assigning training based on site safety training matrixes into the company Learning Center.
- Extracting and distributing reports on training progress, audits, corrective actions, metrics, and any other health, safety, and environmental related data as required.
- Performing trend analysis for the Accelera HSE function.
- Preparing presentations for Accelera leadership using extracted health, safety, and environmental data.
- Managing and keeping current the Accelera HSE SharePoint site.
- Organizing the Accelera HSE Teams page and keeping up to date the Accelera HSE team calendar.
- Organizing and distributing team meeting invites for the Accelera HSE team.
- Maintaining and updating the Accelera HSE scorecard.
- Supporting Accelera HSE sites with HSE metrics reporting.
- Creating and maintaining Accelera HSE specific Power BI reports.
- Organizing, maintaining, and distributing safety alerts for the Accelera business.
- Assisting with preparing Annual Operating Budgets for the Accelera HSE function.
- Helping to coordinate Accelera HSE workshops and in-person meetings.
- Creating and submitting purchase orders for the Accelera HSE function.
- Please note, Accelera / Power BI experience is helpful but isn’t required (training will be provided).
Work Environment / Other Info:
- This is a 1st (day) shift role. Our standard schedule is 7:30am to 4:00pm (Monday to Friday)
- This will be an on site role (no remote / hybrid work).
- There may be occasional overtime (although not frequent). Any overtime will be paid at 1.5x.
