We have an opportunity for a Group Technical Sustainability Lead to join our Technical team.

The Group Sustainability Lead will create a framework to support monitoring of technical KPIs for all Finsbury sites, identifying trends and areas of concern at the earliest stages to enable early intervention and action delivery. This role will also drive a continuous improvement culture within compliance across Finsbury, seeking to implement best practice and progression towards compliance excellence for the group.
This is a fast-paced role, where the successful candidate will be degree educated in Food Science/Technology or related subject. They will ideally have extensive experience in the food industry with proven track record of driving continuous improvement, and a track record of working cross functionally to drive results
This role is Homebased but will require regular travel to our sites (Manchester, Sheffield, Glasgow, Cardiff or Salisbury) and customers for meetings which could be weekly or monthly, depending on the requirement.

The Group Sustainability Lead will report directly to the Group Technical Director and will operate across the Finsbury end to end supply chain inclusive of all manufacturing sites. This new role is key to the shaping and implementation of the Technical Excellence Strategy across the group as part of the wider business Excellence strategy. As a new role there will be an element of role development and process/system implementation for future sustainability.
They will set up and run a group wide internal audit process to standardise and improve the current internal auditing done across each site. The aim to be that internal auditing is viewed as a key leading KPI across the business driving continuous improvement and influencing direction of Technical Excellence Strategy. They will also have management of the supporting specialist audits i.e. Acheta/Kiwa and PAS and integrating them into the overall audit reporting pack. They will also develop and lead the Technical Early Careers strategy, centred around a Technical Graduate programme allowing us to attract, develop and retain talent.
To be successful in this role it is key that the person doing this role is a self-starter and can work effectively with minimal supervision. They need to have a passion for driving excellence through robust insight and be confident delivering this message through both existing meeting structures and reports. They need to have good influencing skills and be confident working cross functionally to deliver results, comfortable both working as a team and alone.

- HND/Degree Educated in Food Science/Technology or related subject
- Ideally to have 5-10 years’ experience in the food industry with proven track record of driving continuous improvement
- Must have a track record of working cross functionally to drive results
- Experience of being able to set up new ways of working and processes would be a significant advantage to this role
- Must be able to develop clear business reports to get engagement from wider stakeholders
- Ability to seek out best practice from other industry types and transfer into our business.
