This job is responsible for overseeing programs and projects specific to corporate change initiatives that impact how the bank does business, provides a product or service, or executes a function. Key responsibilities include serving as the primary contact to department managers for critical change initiatives and communicating, influencing, and negotiating vertically and horizontally to obtain or leverage resources. Job expectations include delivering regulatory and executive material and ensuring results align to program strategy, simplification, and new capabilities.
Line of Business Job Description:
The Environmental Data Solutions Team plays a critical role in executing Bank of America’s environmental data strategy, working with front-line units and control functions to define environmental data requirements and translate those to client-level profiles. This is an important first step in supporting our clients on their Net Zero journey.
The Sustainability Data Manager is a key part of the EDS leadership team, defining strategy and providing the team and the Enterprise with a comprehensive approach to client and reference data in support of understanding our clients’ climate needs. The ideal candidate will be skilled at developing relationships and driving to solutions across a large-scale, complex organization.
Line of Business Responsibilities:
- Engaging key stakeholders across the Bank’s Lines of Business to understand their environmental data requirements
- Serving as an advocate for our clients, our businesses and the team and proposing approaches to data collection and management that meet emerging priorities
- Driving clear definition and alignment of use cases, processes and Technology initiatives from across the Enterprise
- Maintaining the Enterprise Climate Data Catalog, incorporating global requirements and Bank priorities to build a resource for understanding our environmental data priorities
- Leading implementation of reference data solutions focused on environmental data while having significant impact on Enterprise-wide approaches
- Translating business requirements / use cases to practical approaches
- Understanding the environmental data vendor landscape at a detailed level, with the ability to make recommendations affecting both current and potential future relationships
- Developing, guiding and implementing both Technology-enabled and offline solutions to reference data challenges
Responsibilities:
• Defines program controls, processes, procedures, reporting cadence, decision governance structures, and ways of working with key stakeholders
• Works closely with project sponsors, cross-functional teams, and assigned project managers to develop the scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for new change initiatives
• Monitors the execution of defined tasks through tracking of program milestones and their statuses, developing program plans, and measuring progress against ongoing key performance indicators
• Analyzes, evaluates, and overcomes program risks, and produces program reports for managers and stakeholders
• Identifies key requirements for cross-functional teams and external vendors to perform in alignment with the program objectives
• Works with other program managers to identify risks and opportunities across multiple projects within the department, leading them to negotiate decision making for efficient and effective resolution
• Meets with stakeholders to provide transparency into project issues and decisions on services, builds positive relationships, asks questions, and uses tools to uncover root causes to challenges, identify opportunities, and make recommendations.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of work experience in data management in the financial services industry
- Hands-on, applied experience with data cataloging, lineage and reference data principles, or demonstrated experience with data management (i.e., Enterprise Data Management – EDM principles) in a large, complex organization
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail
- Strong written, verbal, presentation creation and delivery skills
- Strong project/time management skills, including the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Enthusiastic, highly motivated, and execution-oriented with minimal direction and guidance
- Results-oriented, self-starter with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently
- Proven success with cultivating strong partnerships, working across multiple teams to effectively influence stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills to analyze problems and identify both tactical and strategic solutions
- Quick learner to absorb and understand new information
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree, advanced degree or certification
- Previous experience standing up a new function or cross-Enterprise initiatives is highly valued
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Know Your Customer / Customer Due Diligence (KYC/CDD) or other client-level reference data experience
- Experience with Enterprise Data Management (EDM) Standards and/or external data mandates (e.g., Risk Data Aggregation Risk Reporting – RDARR) highly valued
