Key Responsibilities:
1. Environmental Program Development and Implementation:
o Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive EHS policies and procedures with a focus on environmental management.
o Conduct thorough environmental risk assessments and implement controls to mitigate hazards, promoting eco-friendly practices.
o Create and manage initiatives aimed at reducing waste, energy consumption, and resource use across all operations.
1. Regulatory Compliance and Environmental Stewardship:
o Ensure strict compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, including EPA guidelines and sustainability standards.
o Stay updated on emerging environmental regulations and sustainability best practices, ensuring timely updates to policies and procedures.
o Prepare and submit all necessary regulatory reports, permits, and environmental documentation.
1. Training and Education on Environmental Practices:
o Develop and deliver targeted training programs focused on environmental compliance, sustainability practices, and ecological responsibility.
o Conduct environmental awareness sessions and drills to ensure employee preparedness and engagement in sustainability efforts.
o Foster a culture of sustainability among employees by integrating eco-friendly practices into daily operations.
1. Incident Management and Environmental Impact:
o Investigate and document environmental incidents, near misses, and compliance violations.
o Implement corrective and preventive actions to address identified environmental issues and improve practices.
o Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, and environmental assessments.
1. Environmental Management and Pollution Prevention:
o Oversee waste management strategies, pollution control measures, and comprehensive environmental impact assessments.
o Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and chemicals to minimize environmental risk.
o Monitor environmental conditions and ensure adherence to best practices and regulations.
1. Sustainability Initiatives and Performance Metrics:
o Develop and manage robust sustainability programs focused on minimizing environmental impact and enhancing resource efficiency.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed sustainable practices into all business operations.
o Track, analyze, and report on sustainability performance metrics, highlighting progress toward environmental goals.
1. Health and Safety Monitoring with an Environmental Focus:
o Conduct regular environmental audits and inspections of facilities to ensure compliance and identify potential hazards.
o Monitor workplace conditions and employee health in relation to environmental factors to mitigate risks.
o Ensure the proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) related to environmental safety.
1. Communication and Reporting on Environmental Initiatives:
o Prepare and present comprehensive EHS and sustainability reports to management and regulatory bodies, highlighting environmental performance.
o Clearly communicate EHS and sustainability policies to employees, addressing concerns and promoting best practices.
o Maintain thorough documentation, including safety manuals, training records, incident reports, and sustainability performance data.
Qualifications:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), LEED accreditation) are advantageous.
· Experience: Proven experience in EHS management with a strong focus on environmental initiatives, sustainability efforts, and compliance.
· Skills:
o In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainable practices.
o Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
o Strong analytical skills to evaluate data, prepare reports, and present findings effectively.
o Proficiency in EHS and sustainability software and tools.
o Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
