POSITION: Project Engineer – Site Mitigation Services
LOCATION: Freehold, NJ or Cranford, NJ
POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Engineer will primarily be responsible for implementing subsurface investigation activities, preparing investigation reports, advocating for our clients with regulatory agencies, and supporting AEI’s growth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Requires minimal oversight and supervision
- Responsible for project design, implementation, reviews and oversight
- Interprets data and has a strategic understanding of required next steps
- Prepares and manages project budgets
- Supports project management team
- Responsible for team proposals and cost estimate preparation
- Project management of simple projects and the completion at least two ASTM Phase II ESAs per week, or an equivalent deliverable under appropriate supervision
- Responsible for field work and report writing
- Document and report preparation; interpretation of data including recommendations of next steps
- Develops subcontractor relationships and on-boarding of subcontractors
- Responsible for scope of work and proposal preparation
- Maintains or exceeds applicable utilization goals
- Obtains and adheres to the Company required Health and Safety Training Program and Practices
QUALIFICATIONS
- Approximately 8 to 10+ years of previous experience performing environmental due diligence investigations (Phase II assessments), and completing site characterization and remedial investigations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong business acumen
- Flexibility to work in a team environment and as an individual contributor and project manager; willingness and ability to perform a wide range of project tasks, as necessary (i.e., client management, cost estimating, business development support, field work, report writing and review, etc.); and ability to think critically through a project from conception to completion
- A self-starter, resourceful, with an attention to detail and the ability to work productively and independently on multiple projects under strict deadlines
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree, or higher, in civil or environmental engineering required
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
- PE license required
- Current OSHA 40-hour "HAZWOPER" training certification strongly preferred; additional Health and Safety training a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- The work environment will be both indoors and outdoors. Indoor work takes place in a typical office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Outdoor work requires the ability to effectively perform work in all types of weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, type, handle office and/or field equipment, speak, hear and travel independently. The employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, balance, kneel or crouch. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus.
