Join Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance as a Journeyman Electrician! In this role, you’ll handle electrical work, including maintenance, repairs, and installations throughout the zoo. You’ll play a vital role in maintaining a safe and efficient environment for our animals, guests, and staff.

Compensation
The range for this position is $33 - $40 (hourly).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures according to NEC standards and NFPA codes.
- Troubleshoot and repair fire notification systems.
- Support zoo events by setting up and maintaining electrical systems, including audio, video, lighting, and staging when needed.
- Collaborate with other trades for installation, maintenance, and repair projects.
- Mentor and guide team members by providing hands-on training.
- Plan and execute electrical work using blueprints, sketches, and schematics.
- Maintain records, prepare reports, and submit completed work orders.
- Prepare cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service to zoo staff, guests, and maintenance customers.
- Draft evaluations and provide recommendations to the Multi-Trades Manager/Master Electrician.
- Maintain flexibility for event startups, weekend shifts, and on-call availability.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Technical / Professional Requirements & Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician License – Required to apply.
- Comprehensive understanding of electrical systems and components.
- Familiarity with NEC (National Electrical Code) and NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical codes.
- NICET Fire Alarm Certification (preferred).
- Able to work flexible hours, including some weekends and evenings for event support.
- Strong communication and customer service focus.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office; experience with CMMS systems is a bonus (training available if needed).

Schedule & Work Environment
- Monday-Friday, with some rotating on-call shifts.
- On-campus work at Denver Zoo.
