The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The Guest Services Leader at Spekboom Lodge will oversee the entire guest journey, ensuring a seamless and exceptional experience for all visitors, including those on guided tours, behind-the-scenes experiences, and VIP stays. This position is responsible for managing guest reservations, overseeing staff, coordinating between departments, and ensuring the highest levels of service from check-in to check-out.
As an Assistant Manager for GE Revenue, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people in San Antonio. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Manage Guest Experience: Oversee all aspects of guest reservations, including check-ins for guided tours, behind-the-scenes tours, and Spekboom Lodge stays. Ensure guests receive excellent service throughout their stay.
- Guest Journey Oversight: Manage the entire guest experience from check-in to check-out, ensuring smooth operations, timely service, and guest satisfaction.
- Staff Leadership: Lead, train, and mentor staff. Set clear expectations for concierge services and guest recovery to maintain high standards of service.
- Schedule Management: Oversee and adjust schedules for tours, concierge services, housekeeping, and other guest experiences.
- Interdepartmental Coordination: Communicate and collaborate with housekeeping, maintenance, food services, and other departments to ensure seamless guest service.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory related to guest services, tours, and amenities, ensuring everything is stocked and available as needed.
- Staffing Levels: Ensure appropriate staffing levels during peak times, managing schedules to optimize guest service while controlling labor costs.
- Training & Development: Advise staff on guest service expectations, including handling VIPs, concierge services, and guest recovery strategies.
- Prospectus & Scheduling for Guest Experiences: Create and manage the scheduling and planning for tours, VIP packages, and other guest experiences.
- Housekeeping Coordination: Oversee communication with housekeeping to ensure rooms and facilities are ready for guest arrivals and maintained during their stay.
- Guest Recovery: Address and resolve guest complaints or issues, ensuring that recovery efforts are timely and exceed guest expectations.
- Completes other assignments as needed
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, the San Antonio Zoo recommends the following skills/qualifications:
- Proven experience in hospitality, tourism, or a related field with a focus on guest experience management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in schedule management, data analysis, and inventory control.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Flexible schedule with availability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
- Knowledge of wildlife, conservation, or zoo operations is a plus.
