JOB SUMMARY: This position is in Region 10, Office of Regional Counsel, General Law and FOIA Branch. About Region 10. This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis. MAJOR DUTIES: You will: Serve as a first line supervisor of a approximately eight staff, a mix of both attorney and non-attorney positions assigned to the General Law and FOIA Branch (GLFB). The GLFB handles responses to requests made under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and other information law issues, as well as grants, ethics, and employment law. Management includes oversight of all substantive issues within the GLFB, including assigning work to staff and handling all administrative matters, such as performance reviews and other personnel-related activities. Build effective working relationships as a liaison working closely with Region 10 program clients, including the Region 10 Management Support Division (MSD) and various environmental media Divisions, as well as the EPA National FOIA Office (NFO), to ensure that relevant and accurate information is exchanged regarding actions that may affect Regional program objectives. Assume a leadership role within the GLFB, including assisting with strategic planning and coordination; maintain subject matter expertise; disseminate current policies, guidance, procedures to GLFB staff and ORC management to ensure consistency across regional and national matters; and mentor less experienced attorneys and non-attorneys.
