ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Main purpose of the role:
Responsible for all quality management within the project. The Quality Manager will be responsible to oversee and monitor the quality assurance and quality control processes of the project on behalf of the Employer in accordance with the requirements of the EPC contracts and in accordance with the Employer’s Requirements.
General:
- Review, Audit and Monitor Implementation and Performance of the Contractor Project Quality Management System (QMS) and the Quality Management Plan (PQMP)
- Ensure that the contractor develops and maintains an effective quality management framework to demonstrate compliance with the agreed Project procedures and contractual requirements including the handover process
- Advise, assist and follow up on the Project Team members in relation to quality management matters and performance of the quality management system
- Manage the Project quality team, ensure that the resources in the quality team are adequately skilled for the tasks
- Monitor the Contractor’s operationally Quality Control / Inspection services including subcontractors (notification, mobilisation, provision of documents, receipt and review of inspection reports).
- Facilitate the relevant feedback within the Project Team
- Keep up on standards, regulations/laws, issues, and news with respect to product/service quality
- Support the Contractor activities in fulfilling their quality requirements:
*Review contractors' quality documentation
*Organise and facilitate and document Monthly Quality meetings with the Contractor to address all Quality issues,
*Assist and perform the inspection activities as defined in the Contractor’s respective ITP’s; including the definition of the need for QC Inspectors and their coordination,
- Initiate and follow-up on non-conformities documented within the NCR register for the Project and assist the Project Team in the disposition of the NCRs
- Review the Contractor root cause analysis following identification of defects,
- Ensure that the Contractor quality records are accurate and delivered promptly at the required stage.
Implementation:
- Responsible to monitor the strategic implementation for the Contractor’s quality assurance and quality control activities.
- Identify and promote improvement within the Project Quality performance.
- Monitor and review the process for the Contractor’s management of technical change
- Support the Requests for inspection services
- Develop, implement and maintain procedures and documentation for the Project where directed by the Corporate QA Manager, OE, CM and PM.
- Review and verify all quality assurance and quality control plans, processes and procedures of the Contractor and its Subcontractors to ensure same are aligned with the Employer’s Project expectations,
- Ensure the necessary quality inspections are undertaken and recorded during the manufacturing process:
o Factory Acceptance Testing
o Raw materials receipts
o Field Quality Plan inspections
o Hold point inspections
o Milestone verification inspections.
- Report deviations and non–conformances to the Project Manager, and monitor corrective and preventive actions,
- Management of the construction punch lists and close out of the corrective actions taken to address the punch items,
- Address construction practices that don’t meet the Employer’s quality requirements,
- Review the Final Inspection quality documentation and report deviations and ensure corrective action is taken by Contractor,
- Support Project team to ensure key project milestones are met safely and timely,
- Keep accurate documentation and perform statistical analysis of the Project quality management and performance,
- Support the Project Manager in ensuring timeous submission of quality documentation by the Contractor on the document management platform,
- Provide the Project Manager with the supporting Quality verification evidence to approve the Contractor’s related payment milestones.
Execution:
- Actively support and apply the Project Health and Safety policy and procedures to achieve Zero Harm within the Project.
- Ensure the contractor(s), their sub-contractors and agents carry out all activities in a safe and controlled manner in accordance with the project Health and Safety plan. Good understanding of the Project HSE plan and Zero Harm ambition, providing leadership

The position reports directly to:
Direct Line: Project Manager / Functional: Corporate QA Manager
QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Must-have Qualifications and Certifications:
A tertiary qualification in the quality field is compulsory.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCES
Must-have years of professional experiences:
Minimum 5 years' work experience in renewable projects at site level.
Preferred years of professional experiences:
Previous experience as Quality Manager on a large-scale utility project is a definite advantage.

Technical competencies:
- Excellent working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management system.
- Knowledge on the requirements as set out within SANS 19011
- Excellent working knowledge of supply chain and manufacturing processes in a factory.
- Good working knowledge of OHS Act and its Regulations.
- Good report writing ability, with good spelling and grammar acumen.
- General technical acumen.
- Strong negotiating ability with workforce and community.
- Sound knowledge of MS 365 office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams.
