Position Summary:
The Program Associate Energy, is responsible for helping advance LACI’s Clean Energy Partnership initiatives to accelerate clean energy technology commercialization and leads LACI’s market landscaping and analysis efforts for clean energy, zero emission transportation and sustainable cities. This position is based at LACI’s headquarters in Downtown Los Angeles and reports to the Sr. Director of Energy within the Market Transformation pillar.
What You’ll Do:
- Clean Energy Partnership:Assist the Director of Energy, both from a process and content perspective, to ensure the advancement of LACI’s Clean Energy Partnership clean energy goals. Lead the development of LACI’s Clean Energy Partnership Newsletter. Conduct research on major policy, business model, workforce, and technology issues related to the clean energy market. Track and analyze key energy policy at the local, regional and state levels. Participate in and track related technology, policy and funding developments (e.g. California Energy Commission, Department of Energy, local working groups).
- Event Coordination: Assist in logistics related to work of multiple multi-stakeholder groups (e.g., scheduling, meeting minutes, etc). Lead the coordination and execution of “How to Do Business With…” Events
- Market Landscape & Analysis: Research, synthesize, socialize, and generate market landscape reports with the assistance of other Market Transformation team members for key markets including Zero Emission Transportation, Clean Energy and Sustainable Cities. Continuously monitor and disseminate notable updates and activities in the aforementioned key markets as they pertain to LACI’s mission and key priorities
- Start-up Cultivation: Seek new start-ups that align with LACI’s mission and key markets and pre-filter these start-ups for potential fit and vetting by the Unlocking Innovation team

Requirements:
Basically, we want to know you can get the job done. This means you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Environment, Policy, or related field
- Minimum of 3-4 years work experience
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Direct policy analysis, program management, and/or event management experience
- Knowledge of clean energy market trends, building decarbonization, and distributed energy resources
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization and time management skills
- Knowledge of Google Docs, Microsoft Office in word processing, Excel, and presentation/slides
- Excellent writing and communication skills are required.
- Ability to nimbly manage multiple projects and deadlines is a must.
- Flexible, detail oriented self-starter dedicated to making the world a cleaner, safer, better place to live in through the implementation of new sustainable technologies.
- Experience and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment both independently with limited supervision, and also within a team
- Experience working with, and helping to manage, multi-stakeholder projects or processes
Work Requirements
- Must work onsite from Downtown LA office 3 days/week
Position Details:
This is a full-time position, starting immediately. LACI operates out of the La Kretz Innovation Campus, in the bustling Downtown LA Arts District. Since we are rapidly growing, you will be getting in on the ground floor at LACI, with the opportunity to evolve with us and shape your future here. Some travel may be required.
Salary Range: Associate/Manager Range $64-73k commensurate with experience, education, skills, etc and total compensation package including health benefits, 401k match, professional development, commuter benefits and more.
