Job Description and Duties
Under the direction of a Senior Construction Engineer, incumbent performs various technical office task and field tasks of high difficulty relating to transportation construction and engineering. Coordinates Contract Change Order (CCO) review and process including CCO Prior Approvals, Arbitration Settlements, Claims Settlements and Resolutions, and working with HQs CCO Desk to obtain approval on those required. Working knowledge of CR Construction CCO policy and procedures, and the Construction Manual. Enters information and maintains the CCO database with the ability to prepare and present reports from the CCO database and available resources. Records management, keep accurate records of all CCO reviews, and correspondence. Trains Resident Engineers (REs) on CCO preparation and process. May act as a leadworker directing, training and reviewing the work of new and developing staff members, and may act on behalf of the CCO Senior in their absence. Answers bid questions from contractors, reviews and comments on Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) coordinates with Field Construction and Design with the ability to retrieve bidder inquiries and post responses online. Answers construction related technical questions from staff, contractors and the public. Represents Construction at PS&E Review Meetings, Project Development Team (PDT) Meetings, and at Resident Engineer Meetings. D6 Construction web site improvement and development represent construction on web based and data base work group meetings, provide solutions, plan and implement improvements. Coordinates Additional Funds Requests and maintains records of the current status of each.
Candidates are required to review the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) for this classification. If you meet MQs under Pattern II and require the TE Civil in-person written hurdle exam, DO NOT TAKE the TE Civil online exam prior to passing the written hurdle. Candidates who take the TE Civil online exam prior to passing the written hurdle may negatively impact their hiring eligibility.
