Your work environment at EXP
EXP is currently searching for an Environmental Engineer or Scientist to join the Geo-Environmental Team of our Geotechnical Group in the Markham, Ontario office.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Conduct all aspects of Phase One Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) including historical review, visual site assessment, interviews and report preparation in accordance with Ontario Regulation 153/04. Experienced with Ontario Regulation 153/04 and able to identify areas of potential environmental concerns during the course of the Phase One ESA.
- Conduct all aspects of Phase Two ESAs including coordinating and supervising field investigation, soil and groundwater sampling, preparation of soil and groundwater samples for laboratory analysis, review and interpretation of data as well as report preparation in accordance with Ontario Regulation 153/04.
- Knowledgeable in Ontario Regulation 406/19 (Excess Soil Regulation) and associated Rules for Soil Management and Excess Soil Quality Standards.
- Conduct soil sampling from test pits and soil stockpiles for excess soils characterization in accordance with Ontario Regulation 406/19.
- Conduct site visits for earthworks and excess soils projects for visual assessment/evaluation, assist with developing suitable sampling program, assist with soil tracking, soil sampling and analysis.
- Conduct fieldwork for hydrogeological investigations including single well response tests.
- Oversee remediation or underground storage tank removal programs.
- Organize and tabulate comprehensive analytical data.
- Prepare borehole logs and figures.
- Prepare letter reports to present analytical results as required.
- Maintain excellent working relationships with clients and other team members.
What your experience looks like
- University degree in a related field of study such as Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science/Technology, Hydrogeology or Geoscience.
- 4 to 6 years of progressive experience in the environmental consulting field.
- P.Eng. or P.Geo., or EIT/GIT working towards these designations.
- Knowledgeable in Ontario Regulation 153/04 and Ontario Regulation 406/19.
- Strong computer skills including report preparation in MS Word and data tabulation in MS Excel. Working experience with borehole log software (gINT), ArcGIS and CAD a strong asset.
- Effective writing and communication skills with advanced technical writing abilities.
- A valid driver's G license and access to a vehicle are required.
- Ability to work independently on the field based on verbal or written project briefings provided. Strong note taking and organizational skills.
- Experience in geotechnical and hydrogeological engineering an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, and put forth creative solutions.
