Role: Business Developer (Sustainability Consulting)
Location: Oxford, London, or Bristol; with regular attendance in our offices
Contract: Permanent contract (full or part-time; minimum 0.8FTE)
Salary range: £45,000 - £60,000 pa (pro rata), dependent on experience
About you…
Do you have confidence and experience in a consulting or business developer role, or in proposal writing or development within the environmental/NGO or sustainability sectors? Are you passionate about sustainability and/or consulting, with a desire to help a business grow, professionalise and reach new clients? If so, our new Business Developer role could be for you.
As we evolve and diversify our client base, developing new processes and improving our go to market approach, it is essential that we have support to analyse market needs and trends, put together winning proposals and pitches, and accurately and consistently monitor business performance.
As the holder of this internally-focussed, centralised role, you will directly support increased revenue, utilisation and an improved go to market strategy across 3Keel. You will help avoid duplication of effort across the business at large, and ensuring consistency in process and approach, and lightening the business development load for 3Keel’s billable consultants.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Analysis and Opportunity Identification: Work with Business Units, Key Account Managers and Key Account Directors to support market research activity, analysing trends, undertaking competitor analysis, and identifying potential opportunities for business growth.
- Proposal Support: Assist Business Units in the development of client proposals, including researching clients, sectors and industries and helping coordinate inputs for major proposals.
- Knowledge Management: Support the business in developing and maintaining a comprehensive set of documents, templates and tools to support effective business development and delivery.
- Performance Tracking and Reporting: Routinely collect and analyse business performance data (including but not limited to financial) to provide governance forums with robust and consistent management information along with key insights. Monitor the delivery of Key Account Management plans against agreed targets.
- Process Optimisation: Work closely with the Senior Management Team (SMT) to identify, review, and optimise business development processes.
- Project Resourcing: Support Business Units with the effective tracking of consulting capacity, utilisation, and project team planning.
- Internal Project Delivery: Coordinate and manage various business support projects within 3Keel, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are of high quality.
Essential requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a consulting or business developer role, or in proposal writing or development within the environmental/NGO or sustainability sectors.
- Strong financial, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent stakeholder / relationship management skills, with the ability to work effectively with people from different cultures and backgrounds;
- Commercial mindset and experience in developing high quality proposals;
- Organised and systematic approach to managing a busy workload.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Great team working skills with evidence of working collaboratively on projects,
- Excellent project management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and project management tools.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail.
Desirable skills
- Experience of data analytics, visualisation and practical business intelligence software apps (e.g., intermediate to advanced MS Excel, MS PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik, ETL tools).
- Passion and understanding of sustainability issues from a global perspective.
- Experience of using Xero and/or other web-based business management tools.
