As the EHS Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager in developing, implementing, and optimizing EHS programs across all Dee Zee locations.
Your role will involve applying technical expertise to enhance workplace safety, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement in environmental and health standards. This position is ideal for those who enjoy problem-solving, process improvement, and making a tangible impact on workplace safety.
Provide support for all functional areas of the Environmental, Health and Safety Department, including but not limited to programs, training, documentation, inspections, assessments and enforcement to OSHA, DOT, EPA, ISO and IATF compliance.
WORK ENVIRONMENT— Must be adaptable to various manufacturing environments with potential exposure to elements including coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise, and temperature variations.
- EHS Program Development: Assist in the design, development, and enhancement of EHS programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other regulatory standards.
- Incident Reporting, Investigation, and Tracking: Review injury and incident reports, conduct investigations, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Safety Committee Management: Assist in facilitating safety committee meetings to ensure active employee participation in safety initiatives and effective communication across all levels.
- Compliance Management: Support regulatory compliance activities, including maintaining applicable permits, safety data sheets (SDS), and OSHA logs. Ensure all practices meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
- SDS Database Management: Maintain and update the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database, ensuring all employees can access accurate chemical safety information.
- PIT Training and Licenses: Oversee the review of forklift and other powered industrial truck training records and issue certifications to ensure employees are properly licensed.
- First Aid Training and Hearing Exam Coordination: Coordinate training sessions and hearing exams.
- Emergency Response: Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans, ensuring effective and safe responses to potential incidents.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science). Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, Medical, HazMat, or Environmental Certifications) are a plus.
Experience: Preferred 5+ years of experience in an EHS or technical role, preferably in a manufacturing or procedure-driven environment. Experience with Workers' Compensation claim management is a plus.
Computer Skills:Proficient in using industry-standard software, along with Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Demands:Must be able to perform fieldwork in various manufacturing environments. May require lifting up to 25 lbs and the ability to wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
