Position Summary
Under supervision the Release & Environment Analyst supports the day to day running of the Platform IT Release Process, documenting and maintaining the service, coordinating release deployments through the environments, implementing and enforcing the Release Management policies. Additionally the Release & Environment Analyst coordinates with ITS and BA teams to build, schedule, and manage the environments (development, test, staging, training, etc.) for the different platforms and systems.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensures all IT teams follow release management process and escalate non-conformity.
- Maintains quality checks on releases and record those that directly or indirectly cause support Incidents.
- Coordinates releases to ensure that the integrity of all environments is protected and that the correct components are released according to a documented implementation plan.
- Ensures appropriate checkpoints are met and coordinate release sign off.
- Performs regular audits of the release process.
- Identifies and recommends service improvements.
- Provides management information on releases to clients and senior management as required.
- Identifies and provide training to improve understanding of Release process.
- Provides input for the release policy based on ITIL principles.
- Updates Master Release Calendar and Forward Schedule Of Changes.
- Manages releases including application updates, operating system patches, security improvements, hardware upgrades, Projects and Programs. Where necessary provide tools, processes, and services to help product management and project teams manage and deploy releases into production.
- Working with ITS leadership responsible for implementing and managing release processes for code through development, test, and production environments
- works collaboratively with all participants in software development projects and is supportive of developers and testers as they set up their build dev/test environments.
- Coordinate release content and effort based on the service request backlog, pending service requests, third party applications, or operating system updates
- Working with Project Managers, communicate all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes
- Communicate release details and schedules to the Business as required
- Working with Project Managers and ITS Leads, co-ordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment Plans and checklists.
- Participate in CAB meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks
- Maintains a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
- Work with other members to ensure that environments are available to develop and test projects for the Project Portfolio.
- Assist in the technical testing of internal and external systems and services. This may include stress and load testing.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience
- OR
- Associate's degree and five (5) years of experience
