This is a time limited assignment not-to-exceed 5 years, that may be extended within regulatory time limits or made permanent without further competition or terminated at management discretion. MAJOR DUTIES: As a Supervisory Hydrologist (Deputy Center Director) within the New Mexico Water Science Center, some of your specific duties will include: Serves as a member of the Senior Management Team and principal advisor to the Center Director concerning the collection, analysis, quality assurance, and publication of hydrologic data. Exercises a broad range of supervisory responsibilities through subordinate supervisors; oversees employee career development, performance evaluations, and makes decisions on promotions, training, and awards. Manages and directs all Hydrologic Data activities; a program consisting of approximately 45 employees with a budget of more than $5 million annually. Develops, plans, and administers the operations and activities of the NMWSC Data Program with over 30 reimbursable cooperators from state and local governments, tribes, and other federal agencies. Develops and secures reimbursable funds to sustain and grow the financial stability of the NMWSC Hydrologic Data program; using the center's Cooperative Matching Funds to negotiate over 30 reimbursable agreements annually with external partners. Advises Water Resources Mission Area on the prioritization of New Mexico's Federal Priority Stream-gages. Operates a government owned/leased vehicle as an incidental driver.
